Our First Ever dōTERRA Global Convention
dōTERRA Dream Convention
A Celebration of 10 Years
In January of 2017, RJ and I joined the amazing business of becoming wellness advocates for dōTERRA: the world’s leading essential oil company. Every year, dōTERRA has an annual global convention where they talk about the latest research on essential oils, release new products, discuss all of the ways Healing Hands Foundation and our Co-Impact Sourcing has helped the world, etc. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend last year, but we made it a priority to attend the global convention this year. This year, it was called, dōTERRA Dream Convention – a celebration of providing the purest essential oils to homes all over the world for 10 years! This convention was BIG. Like over 34,000+ people attending BIG.
What is convention?
Convention is a three day event that takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah, the home to dōTERRA’s headquarters. It happens once a year in September and when tickets go on sale for convention, it sells out within roughly 48 hours. Remember how I said there will be roughly 34,000 people at this thing? That’s 34,000 people buying out every single dōTERRA convention ticket within 2 days…take that in for a second.
Since there are 34,000+ people who attend, dōTERRA’s convention has to run on two different tracks, Track A and Track B, which are held between the Vivint Arena and Salt Palace. Track A is in Vivint Arena and is known as the “early bird” track. This track starts at 9 am. Track B is held at Salt Palace and begins at 11 am. It doesn’t matter which track you choose, you get to see the same exact convention programs LIVE. So whoever presents at 9am for Track A, then goes to Salt Palace to present at 11am for Track B. Pretty cool huh? We chose to go through Track B this year and it was AWESOME.
Just a glimpse of how packed Salt Palace was for Track B.
Then there’s the convention kit…. drum roll please. dōTERRA released an entire new line of oils this year: a Kid’s Collection! Parents, you’ll LOVE it, and you’ll love that your kids will love it too! The Kid’s Collection consists of 6 new blend oils measured and diluted perfectly for kids! The blends are: Thinker, Stronger, Calmer, Rescuer, Steady, and Brave. The blends focus on the mind, heart, and body of children. They also released Turmeric Oil, Magnolia Touch, Yarrow/Pom, Green Mandarin, Pink Pepper, Copaiba SoftGel Supplements, Lemon Myrtle (you can only receive Lemon Myrtle in the actual convention kit at convention), a body mist infused with dōTERRA’s Beautiful blend, On Guard mouth wash, and the new Balance blend deodorant!
Our Adventure at Convention:
Convention itself was incredible. The traveling part, not so much. But we will talk about the traveling in another blog post entirely. Convention was just so eye-opening and inspiring and just wonderful. While there, we got a crash course in essential oil science! dōTERRA recently partnered with Roseman University. Scientists at Roseman University had heard about essential oils and wanted to test them, so they conducted a series of tests on not only dōTERRA’s oils, but other competitor’s oils too and found and explained in completely unbiased conclusions that they believe dōTERRA’s essential oils to be the purest form of essential oils in the world. Similar results came about when APRC (Aromatic Plant Research Center) conducted tests too. In fact, they are one of the companies that tests every single lot of dōTERRA’s essential oils to ensure their CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) purity before the oil is distributed to customers.
Along with science came inspiration and how we, dōTERRA, are helping to change the world. We met all of our co-impact sourcing partners, the individuals who find the purest and most natural places where the plants are grown that our oils come from. They then partner with the local farmers and growers in those locations and help establish housing, clean water sources, food, competitive wages, and more! It’s truly beautiful how much empowerment dōTERRA can provide. And not only with our sourcing partners, but the charitable causes we partner with too like Operation Underground Railroad, Mentor’s International, Day’s for Girls, and more. We even donated a 5 MILLION dollar check to Huntsman Cancer Institute this year. That was breathtaking.

We also heard from multiple guest speakers; Immaculée Illibagiza, a genocide survivor and an overall inspiring and truly strong woman, Tim Ballard, the founder of Operation Underground Railroad which rescues child human trafficking victims, a panel made up of veterinarian’s that debunked a lot of essential oil and pet myths while also providing great advice, and the surprise guest of the week: HUGH JACKMAN. That’s right Hugh Jackman was there! It was AWESOME! He performed, spoke with us, told us about how him and his wife LOVE and use dōTERRA’s essential oils all of the time. He provided us with powerful motivation. It’s hard to choose a favorite speaker because they were all absolutely spectacular but anyone who knows me knows my passion is to work with animals and children, and I have a background in working with human trafficking victims, so I definitely got a lot from and loved both Tim Ballard and the veterinarian panel. Which, by the way, dōTERRA has officially created a veterinarian advisory board which will help provide science, research, and advice on using essential oils with our beloved pets.

There were a lot of performances too; parties like the Gala and Street Party, which were so much fun. We also attended the Empowered Success training on Wednesday which helped train us in running our business. It was so educational and I absorbed as much information as humanly possible. For anyone partnering with dōTERRA as a business or interested in learning about it, dōTERRA is starting a new Launch Camp in October which we are all insanely excited for!
The most amazing thing that happened while we were there wasn’t even convention related. We had called for a car to take us to the convention center but thought we called the wrong type of car so we canceled it and called for another one. When we got into the car, we started talking with the driver and it wasn’t long until he opened up and told us about how he spent 12 years in a refugee camp in Kenya with his wife and son. Right before they were to be moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, his wife was pregnant with their second child but tragically passed away during child birth, the baby was lost too. So just him and his son came to the states in 2015. Before getting out of the car, we asked if we could pray with him. He said yes. That prayer was one of the most powerful prayers I have ever been a part of and not a single one of us got out of the car with a dry eye. We went to convention for education, team connectedness, and everything essential oil related, but God had us go to Salt Lake City to be with that man, on that morning, and pray with him. We were meant to cancel the first car, and we were meant to meet him and spend time with him, even if it was for only 20 minutes.
To sum everything up, convention was an incredible experience and we can’t wait for next year. It was full of new connections, education, inspiration, motivation, love, empowerment, and of course ESSENTIAL OILS. RJ and I are so grateful for dōTERRA being brought into our lives. Not only have the essential oils made such a huge positive impact in our health, but dōTERRA has opened our eyes and provided us the drive to really do more and go above and beyond what we ever thought possible and to help as many people as we can. I can’t wait for next year’s convention and am beyond excited and eager for this next year of changing lives and diffusing oils. Thank you dōTERRA Dream Convention 2018 for showing me my dream, and helping me believe I can achieve it. And thank you God, for blessing mine and RJ’s life with this incredible opportunity.
