It’s that time of year again when we purge the piles of junk we’ve collected throughout the winter months, clean the windows, scrub the floors, dust the ceiling fans, and all of the other fun stuff we must do to spring clean our homes. And though using heavy chemical filled cleaners and products may provide a “citrus” aroma and make your home feel cleaned, they are actually causing more harm to your body and don’t actually clean that well…oops. That’s okay! We are here to show you how you can not only clean your home using natural, pure, plant based products, but how you can help benefit your health, provide pure, uplifting aromas, and eliminate toxins and chemicals from your home.
The first piece of advice, or shall we say recommendation, that we’d like to offer you, is the knowledge of dōTERRA’s On Guard blend. On Guard is dōTERRA’s protective blend that helps to support a healthy immune system and contains cleansing properties. In our home, this blend is a MUST HAVE. This blend is so good, dōTERRA has an entire On Guard line that consists of laundry detergent, concentrate cleaner, foaming hand soap, hand sanitizing spray, and so much more! We personally love it all! We use the concentrate cleaner and On Guard oil blend in our homemade all purpose cleaner. We diffuse On Guard all of the time in our home, all of our sinks have the foaming hand soap, and the list goes on. Thanks to dōTERRA’s extensive line of On Guard products, this allows you the opportunity to switch your entire home over to non-toxic, chemical free cleaners and products.
Our next favorite oil to use in cleaning our home is Lemon. This uplifting citrus blend provides cleansing and detoxifying properties for your cleaning needs. Have hard-to-scrub, baked on pans or grease stains? Add some Lemon essential oil. Want that wonderful, positive, clean smelling of citrus throughout your home? You get that with the world’s purest form of Lemon essential oil thanks to dōTERRA. Constantly having the need to wipe down your counter tops, windows, door knobs, and anything else that gets covered in gross germs? Use Lemon essential oil to help disinfect those surfaces. The possibilities are endless!
Yesterday, we posted a video of how to make our DIY all purpose cleaner using dōTERRA’s On Guard Concentrate Cleaner, On Guard oil blend, and Lemon. Want to learn how to make it for yourself? Of course, we’ve got lots of other recipes too! Such as DIY carpet deodorizer! Just take 4 TBSP’s of baking soda and add 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oil, (we love Grapefruit or Wild Orange), then sprinkle it on your carpet and let it sit. Don’t rub it in, just let it sit on the carpet for a minimum of 10 minutes, but best would be overnight. Then just vacuum it all up! You’re going to love the pure, uplifting, invigorating aroma it adds to your carpet and you’ll especially love the fact that any stinky odors will now be gone.
When it comes to switching your home over to non-toxic, chemical free, pure cleaning supplies, it can feel overwhelming at first. But by taking small steps and staying educated you can make it significantly less overwhelming. In fact, what you’ll find, is that you’re not only cleaning your home better than before, but you’re providing positive health benefits to you and your family, and you’re saving tons of money by throwing out the 5-15 different types of cleaners you had before for 1 or 2 DIY recipe cleaners you make at home. For us, it’s made a world of a difference cleaning our home with natural, pure, plant based cleaners. Our immune systems have been stronger than ever, our home smells wonderful and stays clean, our moods have been very positive, and it’s the most comforting feeling knowing that the products we are using are totally safe and beneficial for our pets and future children.
